Helping Upendo Graduates Prepare for Life After Form 4

We are very excited to introduce Upendo’s new Postsecondary Scholarship Program.

This program was created to provide a clear, consistent, and organized process for Upendo students who complete Form 4 and desire to continue their education or training after high school. This may include college, university, trade school, vocational training, or another approved postsecondary program.

We believe this is a positive and helpful step for everyone involved.

The Postsecondary Scholarship Program is intended to help connect students with sponsors in a way that is clear, responsible, and sustainable for the future. It gives students a defined process for requesting support, helps Upendo understand each student’s plans and needs, and helps sponsors better understand the real costs involved.

The application is designed to gather important information at the beginning of the process, including the student’s educational goals, the school or program being considered, the expected costs, the student’s housing plan, and the student’s readiness for this next stage of life. We hope this will help avoid confusion, reduce surprises, and make the process easier for students, families, Upendo leadership, and sponsors.

Just as important, we hope this program will help each student grow in responsibility, communication, and independence as he or she moves into adult life. Scholarships will be considered for a defined period and may be reviewed for renewal as needed.

We are excited to introduce this program because we believe it can serve the children well, help sponsors understand needs more clearly, and give everyone a better path forward during this important stage after high school.
